Born to taste Success – 21
Before going to the steps from 1 to 10 let us see a very important Preparatory step.
You are going to experience a new experience which is going to be a powerful seed for your development.
One of these days, why, tomorrow itself you must wake up between 5.00 and 5.30 in the morning. It is certainly going to be before sunrise. Walk in the street and the adjacent road (if it is a town or a city). Look how busy the world is.
- The Cart man is taking vegetables to the market.
- The Paper boy (may be of your age) is going by on a bicycle for newspaper distribution to various houses. He may be studying in a school. Perhaps his parents are not able to support him financially.
- Several teenagers are jogging.
- Many senior citizens are on a brisk walk.
- Birds are flying in the sky calmly to distant places in search of their prey.
- The milk man is busy in distributing the milk.
- Labourers poorly dressed are moving with their tools like crowbar spade etc on their shoulders.
- Bus drivers and truck drivers are enthusiastically driving the vehicles.
- Aircrafts are flying at high speed taking hundreds of passengers who are busily going for their destinations on various assignments.
- If you happen to be hailing from a village like the author of this article, you will see the farmers going briskly to the field some with tools and others with cattle.
You have to ask yourself – “If a senior citizen at 70 can be brisk and busy in the early morning, why can’t myself at 17?”
You will certainly feel bad about your own laziness in your life so far.
All the above scenes will create a vibrant fervour and lift your energy level and increase your mental strength. Once your mind is fired with enthusiasm and zeal you will not be the same person the next day.
Suppose your name is Kumar, You will become Kumar -New. Suppose your name is Sarala, you will become Sarala- New.
Now let us see the 10 steps from 1 to10. If the step one is well understood realized and remembered often, all other nine steps you will yourself implement by generating vigour and steadfastness.
Step-1
We have seen in earlier articles your binding force with your parents. Please understand that the clothes you are putting on right now have been purchased from the sweat of your parents. Not only this dress, but also about 100 dresses they have purchased and clothed you from your babyhood and childhood onwards. They are going to do it for some more years. All these they are doing with enormous love on you.
Please don’t forget that the clothes given to you by your parents are just made of cotton or polyester material. They have come to you from their sweat and blood.
Set a strong goal as follows.
“Before I cross 24 years, from my own earnings I will purchase a set of dress for my mother and a set of dress for my father and present to my parents with great love and affection and get their blessings.”
For a few seconds imagine that scene. Just think how happy your parents would be and how proud you would feel.
This one goal is enough to motivate you till you complete graduation/post graduation. The author is sure that you will not get distracted much once you fix this simple but powerful goal.
Step-2
If you simply have interest to achieve the above goal, it is not enough. You should send this message to your subconscious mind and it should always be reminding and warning you whenever you are wasting your time. You should have commitment and full involvement in your efforts.
Step-3
Many of your relatives and teachers may be telling you so many things about your future. Added to them, when you see a police officer you may like to become a police officer. When you see a collector, you would love become a collector. When you see a manager in a bank sitting in an air conditioned chamber you will like to become a bank manager. Sometimes, when you see your Principal wonderfully addressing the students, you may feel that this is also a very good profession. Everything will be hazy and confusing. This is quite common in your age. I was very much fascinated by the Tamil language while doing my school final and I strongly felt that I should become a Tamil pundit. But interest changed and I did my B.Sc. and then B.E and rose to the level of General Manager in a public sector company. While at school level, do not conclude what you are going to become. Have several options.
One thing you have to decide is the group you have to select when you enter higher secondary. You should find your own interest and strength whether you are good in Maths or science or Arts group. This decision you have to take. Till completing the school final your only goal is to achieve maximum marks in the school final examination. Your future studies and career will certainly depend on your score. Hence the major goal you set at this stage is your academic performance.
Step-4
Think about the goal, dream about the goal and automatically you will create interest and studying will become a passion for you. Then, you will work focusing the aim and you will naturally sleep less.
Step-5
Your performance in the monthly and other periodical tests is an index to know whether you are going in the right path and at the required speed. See that progress graph is rising.
Step-6
If you find the progress is not as you expected, change the methods of your study and develop new strategies.
Step-7
It is not enough if you just meet the goal in the academic front. Simultaneously you should build up your body and you should always keep up your health.
Step-8
Along with your academic performance and building up your health, slowly diversify your extra curricular activities. Compete in some competitions outside. Go to a School and offer a free lecture to the students. When a guest lecture is arranged in your college, you can volunteer to introduce the chief guest. For this you have to develop your communication skill. Participate in a programme conducted by experts. If there is a fee, pay and participate in a public speaking course. This will give you enough practice and develop your confidence level phenomenally.
Step-9
For any successful venture you need continuous monitoring and review. Every month you have to evaluate your own performance and give grades. You should also write there what corrections and improvements you are going to take in the subsequent month. Follow this meticulously on the first of every month. This will become an excellent driving force for your progress. Write this for just 2 to3 years. You will surely reap the fruits.
Step-10
In all your actions and activities one important point which can be termed as a key point is that you should give utmost importance for your character. Build your life on a solid foundation of honesty, character, integrity, trust, love, and loyalty. This foundation will give you peace and happiness along with prosperity.
If you climb the above 10 steps of the goal setting ladder, in which time you are in your early twenties, you will surely get a decent job and further development will be taken care of by the achievements associated with your work experience and life experience.
